Sept. 2008
In exchange for the exhibition of Benjamin Katz in Brussels, CCNOA brought two artists to the gallery: Tilman and Ward Denys. They both approached photography from their particular craft - painting, sculpture and site specific installation. Parallel to the exhibition in the gallery Tilman produced his "House of Colors" for the Antwerp Sculpture Show.
McBride
Fine Art will participate, as the first Belgian gallery, at the Art Beijing
2008, which will take place at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre from
September 6th to 9th
, Booth A8. (see:www.artbeijing.net).
McBride Fine Art will bring photographers as Simon Norfolk (UK), who has made the most formative of all human endeavors - warfare - the topic of his analysis.
Also
on show are rare Dye-transfers by the German artist Thomas Gruenfeld (best know for his “Misfits” Series) depict
apparent classical nude photography. The portfolio is conceptual in spirit and
as such, a reference to the work of the Italian designer and architect Carlo
Molino.
Deeply
steeped in the Basel school of graphic design, the work of Dirk Broemmel takes on everyday large objects - such as a s h i p or a t r e e, which eventually resurface, de-contexualized, reformatted
and surprisingly intelligible on di-bond and behind acrylic glass.
A
full-fledged discovery of 2008 has been the color-photography of the Singapore
born, Brussels based, Michael Chia.
His work is decidedly upbeat and has already been extremely well received by
European collectors.
A mood apart lies in the photography of Thomas Thys, which dwells on the presence of surrealist twists and turns, typical for a specifically Belgian perception - with a universal appeal.
Aug. 2008 - The gallery has moved to a new location at Pourbusstraat 3b, 2000 Antwerp more central to the Antwerp museums and a cluster of galleries in the South of the city.
July 2008 - In the context of the Brussels Summer of Photography the Center for Contemporary and Nonobjective Art -CCNOA invited MCBRIDE FINE ART to present work of the German/Belgian Photographer BENJAMIN KATZ in the confines of their exhibition space.
